Syllabus: 

Computer Based Examination (Tier-I):


1. General Intelligence: This will include both oral and non-verbal questions. The test will include questions on semantic analogy, symbolic operations, symbolic / number analogy, trends, graphical analogy, space orientation, semantic classification, Venn diagram, number / number classification, drawing reference, illustration classification, perforated / pattern-folding and revealing. , Semantic Series, Figure Pattern - Folding and Completion, Number Series, Embedded Figures, Figure Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and De-Coding, Other Sub-Topics, if any numerical operations. . .

2. English language: error, spaces, synonyms / antonyms, antonyms, spelling / word recognition / incorrect words, idioms and phrases, one word substitution, sentence correction, active / passive voice of the verb, direct or indirect conversion. Statements, change of sentence parts, alteration of sentences in a passage, pass passage, comprehension route.





3. Quantitative Aptitude:

Arithmetic:

  • Number system: calculation of whole number, decimal and fractions, relationship between numbers.
  • Fundamental arithmetic operations: Percentage, ratio and proportion, square root, expense, interest (simple and compound), profit and loss, discount, partnership trade, mix and charge, time and distance, time and work.
  • ALGEBRA: Basic algebraic identification of school algebra and elementary surds (simple problems) and graphs of linear equations.
  • GEOMETRY: Familiar with elementary geometric shapes and facts: the triangle and its different types of centers, the similarity of the triangle and the circle, the circle and its chord, tangent, angle, joined by the chord of a circle, two or more circles than the common tangent. .
  • MENSURATION: Regular right pyramid with triangle, quadrilateral, regular polygon, circle, right prism, right circular cone, right circular cylinder, sphere, hemisphere, rectangular parallel quadrilateral, triangular or square base.
  • TRIGONOMETRY: trigonometry, trigonometric ratios, complementary angles, heights and distances (simple problems only) standard identities such as sin 20 + Cos2 = 1 etc.
  • Statistics chart: Use of tables and graphs: histograms, frequency polygons, bar diagrams, pie-charts


4. General Awareness: The questions are designed to test a candidate's general awareness for him and his society. The questions are designed to test such matters of everyday observation and experience in knowledge of current events and their scientific aspect as might be expected from an educated person. The test will also include questions related to India and its neighboring countries, specifically related to history, culture, geography, economic landscape, general policy and scientific research.

Note-1: There will be no component of maps / graphs / diagrams / statistical data in General Intelligence and Quantitative Aptitude for VH candidates above 40% and above selection for visual impaired and SCRIBES.

SSC CHSL Tier-II (Descriptive Type Paper):

Tier-II Paper:- Paper Pen and Paper. The mode will have a descriptive paper of 100 marks. The duration of the descriptive paper will be for one hour (20 minutes compensatory time also Paras 8.1 and 8.2 will be provided to the eligible candidates as given above). 
  • The paper will consist of an essay of 200–250 words and a letter / application of about 150–200 words.
  • The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-2 will be 33 percent.
  • The performance will be included in Tier II to prepare for merit.
  • The paper has to be written in Hindi or in English. Part papers in Hindi and part papers in English will be awarded zero marks.
  • The candidate will have to write his / her right roll number and affix signature and left hand thumb impression in the relevant column in the question paper-cum-answer book, giving zero marks.
  • Candidates are strictly advised not to write any personal identification. Name, roll number, mobile number, address etc. inside the answer book. Candidates who fail to follow these instructions will be awarded zero marks.

SSC CHSL Tier-III (Skill Test / Typing Test):
  • The skill test / typing test for the qualified candidates will be conducted on computers provided by the Commission or its authorized agency.
  • The skill test / typing test will be conducted in the cities where the regional offices of the Commission are located or as decided by the Commission.
  • Skill test / typing test will be of qualifying nature.
  • The skill scheme / typing test will be conducted as per the following scheme.


Skill test for data entry operator: Skill test is compulsory for data entry operators. No candidate is allowed to appear in the skill test.

  • Data entry speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) per hour on computer. The speed of dep000 major depressions per hour on computer will be declared based on the correct entry of words / key depressions as per the given passage. The duration of the test will be 15 (fifteen) minutes and in case printed in English, there will be around 2000-2200 key-depressions, which will enter each candidate in a computer.
  • For the post of Data Entry Operator in the office of Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) of India: The speed of 15000 key depressions per hour on the computer will be declared based on correct entry of words / key depressions. According to the given passage. The duration of the test will be 15 (fifteen) minutes and a case printed in English containing approximately 3700-4000 key-depressions will be given to each candidate who will enter the same in the computer.
  • As per paras 8.1 and 8.2, the eligible candidates for scribe will be given a compensatory time of 5 minutes. Therefore the duration of skill test for such candidates will be 20 minutes.


Typing test for LDC | JSA and Postal Assistant | Sorting Assistant:Medium of typing test will be Hindi and English. In the online application form, the candidates have to opt for the medium of typing test (ie either Hindi or English).

  • The choice of typing test given by the candidate in the online application form will be considered final and no change in the medium of typing test will be done later.
  • The typing speed of the candidates selecting for English medium should be 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) and for Hindi medium candidates the typing speed of 30 words per minute (w.p.m.). 35 w.p.m. And 30 W.P.M. Corresponding to approximately 10500 major depressions per hour and approximately 9000 major depressions per hour, respectively.
  • Speed ​​will be measured in 10 minutes on the accuracy of typing on a computer of a given text route.
  • As per paras 8.1 and 8.2, eligible candidates of scribe will be given a compensatory time of 5 minutes. Hence the duration of typing test for such candidates will be 15 minutes.
  • Passage dictators will be provided to those VH candidates for typing test who have opted for Scribe in the online application form. The Passage dictator will read the pass to the VH candidate within the allotted time period.
  • For candidates with disabilities, who claim that due to physical disability may be unfit to take the typing test permanently, with prior approval of the Commission, exempted from the requirement to appear and qualify in such examination has gone. , Provided such a candidate presents a certificate. In the prescribed format (Annex-XIII) to the Commission from the competent medical authority, the civil surgeon of a government health care institute declared him permanently unfit for typing test due to physical disability. Further, such candidates should claim the relevant medical certificate in the prescribed format as per Annexure-VIII at the time of typing test, as well as on the basis of typing test. Otherwise, his claim seeking exemption from typing test will not be entertained by the Commission.

Final Allocation:

The final merit of successful candidates will be determined on the basis of total marks obtained by them in Tier I and Tier II examination. The candidates will be allotted to the various departments for the post of Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant, Data Entry Operator, Lower Divisional Clerk and Court Clerk based on their merit and preference of the post.

Tie Cases Solved: Tie cases will be solved one by one by applying them, as applied until the tie is resolved.
i. Total marks in Tier-I + Tier-II.
ii. Total marks for Tier-II examination.
iii. Total Marks in Tier-I Examination.
iv. Date of birth, placed higher with older candidates.
v. Alphabetical order in which candidates' first names appear.
